Biography Adu Jahmal
Born Monsieur André Lahori

Adu Jahmal, artist extraordinaire, evolving for more than thirty years in high fashion design, graphic art design, photography, print graphics, graffiti art and exquisite glass sculptures with visual mastery juxtaposed to that of Erté and Rene Lalique’s Art Nouveau presentations. Moreover, Adu Jahmal is one of the pioneers who introduced The Los Angeles Street Scene art movement to Angelinos’ moving from a locally known artist to a world-renowned artist.

Adu started his professional career as a commercial stockbroker for Lehman Brothers only to reverse the pallet later on in life as a sommelier, négociant and as a certified wine educator as a member of the Society of Wine Educators instructing on wine and branding that led to a 16-year collection of wine label art. As a gallerist and an art dealer, Adu curated exhibitions in the cities of Chicago, Seattle, Portland, San Francisco, and Los Angeles and toured from coast to coast.

Recent years his focus has mainly involved sculptured glass work on Bordeaux bottles and decanters receiving world acclaim and compared to some of his more celebrated counterparts Romain de Tirtoff distinguished as Erté, a Russian-born French artist and designer and renowned glass designer René Jules Lalique, France's leading Art Nouveau jewelry designers.

Expanding the art business from Los Angeles to Las Vegas proved to be a success where Adu now owns and operates an 8,000 square-foot gallery and production facility near the Las Vegas Strip. With an abundance of space to be creative, Adu has moved into the more experimental processes such as Electromagnetic art, textile, structural and sequins paintings.

The latest collection "Chateau de Monte Cristo" explores Adu's early introduction to French Writer Alexander Dumas by his late grandmother Annabelle Walton. As Adu's success continues, he has been invited to exhibit at the Castle Château de Monte Cristo June 22, 2019 through September 22, 2019.

For me, this is a childhood dream come true. It is sitting with my Grandmother Annabelle while the smell of dinner was lingering in the warmth of the atmosphere. The sound of my friends outside yelling to my window, “come play," Adu recalls. "Not for one moment did I consider. The matinee on that Sunday hosted by Frasier Thomas was none other than The Count of Monte Cristo.

This collection reflects the passion of the Art Nouveau with a contemporary twist of Las Vegas bling (sequins), with the sophistication of Alexander Dumas. There is also a collection of Bordeaux carved bottles and decanters. With this group, Adu channels the beautiful, bold, existential heritage of Chicago's Bronzeville Neighborhood, the same geography of Quincy Jones, Jack Johnson, Duke Ellington, Miles Davis, Josephine Baker, Gordon Parks, Richard Wright, Johnny Griffin, and many others, in his art.
